Sierra Nevada Right Now

Sierra Nevada, the closest ski resort to a European capital-region city, sits about an hour southeast of Granada and stays part of the plan through every season, not just winter.

The lifts are closed for the season (page reports a closed/off-season station and no snow-depth figure was found). The resort's typical window is late November to early or mid April, weather and snow dependent; no official 2026-27 open/close date has been published by Sierra Nevada at research time, so treat that as the usual pattern rather than a confirmed date.

Outside the ski season Sierra Nevada runs as a hiking and mountain-biking base: the Pradollano cable car and chairlifts that carry skiers in winter also run for hikers reaching the Veleta and Mulhacen trailheads, Europe's highest paved road climbs above the resort, and the summer activity park runs via ferrata, mountain bike and adventure-park circuits out of the same Pradollano base station.
